Maria Carmela Colaneri (born February 10, 1963 in Rome ) is an Italian medalist .

Maria Carmela Colaneri attended the Scuola dell'Arte della Medaglia - Giuseppe Romagnoli of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato . Since 1984 she has been an engraver at the Istituto Poligrafico, which also functions as the state mint , and designed a large number of coins and medals. Her design for the face side of the Italian euro coins for 2 euros, with the portrait of Dante Alighieri after a painting by Raphael , achieved great fame . Colaneri also designed editions of the San Marinese and Vatican euro coins for the Italian mint .
