Maria Königin is a Roman Catholic church in the Isselhorst district of the East Westphalian district town of Gütersloh .

The parish of Isselhorst was influenced by Protestantism for a long time due to its former affiliation to the County of Ravensberg . After the Second World War, displaced people who were of the Catholic faith increasingly settled in the place. In the absence of a church of its own, the services took place in the gym of the old school. The Protestant congregation also permitted services in the Protestant Church . Nevertheless, there was a growing desire among Catholics for their own church building.

In 1955 an approx. 2,000 m² plot of land on the “Auf dem Felde” street was acquired. On September 23, 1956, the foundation stone was laid by Dean Heinrich Sunder with the assistance of Vicar Johannes Joachim Degenhardt . The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on November 5, 1956. On Ascension Day 1957, May 30, the church from Paderborn Bishop was Franz Hengsbach ordained . The construction costs amounted to 130,000 DM .

In 1971 the church was renovated and redesigned by the artist Heinz Hollenhorst according to the liturgical reform.

Due to the incorporation of Isselhorst, Ebbesloh and Niehorst into the city of Gütersloh, the parish has been a subsidiary parish of the Holy Family parish in the Gütersloh-Nordring pastoral network since March 1st, 1980 .
