Sankt Friedrich is a Catholic parish church in Friedrichsdorf in East Westphalia , a district of Gütersloh in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . The church belongs to the pastoral association Avenwedde-Friedrichsdorf of the deanery Rietberg-Wiedenbrück in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

The simple neo-Gothic hall church with west tower and polygonal choir is one of the earliest neo-Gothic church buildings in Westphalia. Only remnants of the contemporary furnishings have been preserved.

The church has an organ made by Franz Breil .

history

In 1793 the first Catholic parish was founded in Friedrichsdorf, which was founded in 1786. In 1804 the first building of the Catholic Church was completed. The consecration was on the Michaelis Festival .

From 1863 to 1866 the second St. Friedrich church was built according to plans by Conrad Niermann .

The church was placed under monument protection in 1984 and entered in the list of architectural monuments in Gütersloh with the monument number A 033 .
