The St. John's Church in Gütersloh district Friedrichsdorf is the parish church of the Evangelical Church of Friedrichsdorf that the Church Gütersloh the Evangelical Church of Westphalia belongs.
Building history and architecture
The Johanneskirche was built between 1877 and 1878, initially with a single nave, as a neo-Gothic hall church with a tower in front on the east side and a recessed, polygonal choir on the west side. In 1913 the church was extended to the south by a side aisle, and in 1959 a sacristy was added to the west of it .
The church was completely renovated in 1978. In 1984 it was placed under monument protection and entered in the list of architectural monuments in Gütersloh with the monument number A 034 .
Furnishing
From the original, no longer existing neo-Gothic altar comes the neo-baroque altarpiece from 1826, which shows Jesus Christ on the cross, as well as two panels on which John the Baptist and the Evangelist John are depicted. The interior also includes two candlesticks from 1878 and the sacrament device , consisting of the sacrament chalice , paten , wine jug and ciborium .
