The Lower Saxony State Center for Political Education (NLpB) is a Lower Saxony educational institution based in Hanover . It was founded in 1955 and existed until 2004 when it was dissolved by the then Lower Saxony state government .

The Lower Saxony State Center for Political Education was founded in 1955 under the name Lower Saxony State Center for Homeland Service . It was renamed the State Center for Political Education in 1959.

In April 2016, the Lower Saxony state parliament unanimously decided to re-establish a Lower Saxony state center for political education. It was established as an institution under public law in the business area of ​​the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture and opened on January 25, 2017. The seat is in the center of Hanover at Georgsplatz. After a unanimous vote by the board of trustees of the state headquarters, consisting of nine members from all parliamentary groups in the Lower Saxony state parliament, Ulrika Engler was appointed director. After the re-establishment of the Lower Saxony State Center for Political Education, the Board of Trustees consists of nine people from all parliamentary groups in the Lower Saxony State Parliament.
