Maria Meinel (* 1972 in Meißen ) is a German translator , author , editor and lecturer .

Life

Maria Meinel grew up in Radebeul near Dresden , passed the Abitur at the ABF in Halle (Saale) and then studied literature and linguistics ( Hispanic and English / American studies ), philosophy , media and communication studies and translation in Barcelona , Galway and Halle . After completing her studies, she moved to Barcelona, ​​where she worked as a freelance translator, interpreter and lecturer for three years. Meinel received insights into publishing life at the Lukas Verlag für Kunst- und Geistesgeschichte in Berlin . Today she lives in Halle (Saale), translates fiction, non-fiction, essays and poetry from English , Spanish and Catalan , writes, proofreads and teaches. a. at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy Halle (2014 and 2015) and the Harz University of Applied Sciences (WS 2016/17). She is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works (VdÜ) and VG Wort and a sponsoring member of the PEN .
