Marianne Vogel (born August 6, 1958 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch writer , Germanist , translator and personal coach.

biography

Vogel was born on August 6, 1958 in Rotterdam. After graduating from high school in 1976, she lived in Paris and Berlin for a few years . From 1979 she studied German language and literature at the University of Leiden . In addition to her major, she also took courses in philosophy and education. In 1985 she completed her studies with the title '' Doctorandus '', which corresponds to the Magister in the Dutch system . Then she continued her philosophy studies and worked on a doctoral position on her dissertation.

In 1992 she was awarded a '' Dr. phil. ''. Her doctoral supervisor was Hans Würzner , and her dissertation dealt with the literary work of Paul Klee .

For almost ten years, Vogel worked as a Dutch scholar at various universities in Germany, seven of them at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . Her research focus was on Dutch and German literature and culture. In 2001 she defended her second dissertation, this time at Maastricht University . Her doctoral mother was Maaike Meijer and her dissertation dealt with the Dutch literary field of the post-war period ( Baard boven baard , see below).

Since 2001 Marianne Vogel has been living in the Netherlands again. After a few years studying German at the University of Groningen , she opened her own coaching practice De Bosvogel Coaching in Zuidhorn in 2006 .

In 2012 she made her debut as a writer of literary thrillers. Your books are set in Berlin, the plots deal with core themes of German history, politics and culture. In her first thriller Gedeelde stad, geheelde stad (Divided City, Healed City), Vogel treats the wounds of reunification. Her second thriller, In de schaduw van Marlene Dietrich (In the shadow of Marlene Dietrich, 2014), focuses on the 1920s, the rise of the Nazis and the emigration of Berliners to the Netherlands. The third thriller, Communistengoud en kerstengelen (Communist gold and Christmas angel, 2016), deals with the Stasi and the millions of GDR who have disappeared in today's Germany.
