Marie Jahn
Marie Jahn ( February 18, 1865 in Vienna - October 26, 1934 in Hanover ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .
Life
Born at the time of the Austrian Empire , Marie Jahn enjoyed her training at the Vienna Conservatory with Johannes Reß .
Immediately afterwards she was engaged for the royal court theater in Dresden . There she appeared for the first time on February 6, 1887 as "Alice" in Robert the Devil and was engaged for three years.
After her contract expired, the artist took on engagement at the Stadttheater Magdeburg (1890), then spent a year at the Metropolitan Opera and was won over to the royal theater in Hanover from September 1891, where she played roles in the youthful-dramatic soprano subject until 1905.
After her stage farewell, Marie Jahn worked as a singing teacher in Hanover and also appeared there as a concert singer . The soprano died in Hanover in 1934.

Marie Jahn celebrated her greatest successes in roles by Richard Wagner , for example as
- Senta in The Flying Dutchman ,
- Elsa in Lohengrin
- and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser ;
But also received applause for roles in Mozart pieces or, for example, as Micaëla in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen .
