The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary is in Eyba , a district of the city of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia . She is named after Maria . The oldest parts date from the 13th century, the somewhat younger ones from the 15th century. The plastered Romanesque hall church has a retracted choir tower . In 1720 the church was renovated, the tower received an eight-sided tower with a dome , which is crowned by an open lantern . All roofs are slated . In the interior , a new ceiling was added. The nave has a gable roof . In 1881 the interior was decorated with stencil painting. In 1983 the church was renovated. To the north of the retracted choir is an extension with late Gothic pointed arched windows. The flat ceiling of the interior is reinforced by coves . The two-story galleries stand on twisted columns . The fields of their parapets are decorated with ornaments . The winged altar , which was created around 1490, was last restored in 1968. There is a carved statue of St. George on the shrine . It is flanked by two female saints. The left wing is painted with Erasmus , the right with Wolfgang . The Annunciation is depicted on the outside .

The organ with 8 registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built by Carl Lösche in 1881 and restored by Rösel & Hercher Orgelbau in 2006 .
