Mario Nakić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Марио Накић ; born June 14, 2001 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian - Croatian basketball player . He plays in the position of the small forward .

career

Mario Nakić began his career as a basketball player in 2010 at KK Zemun . In 2014 he joined the youth team at KK Partizan Belgrade , where he spent one season. In the summer of 2015, the Spanish club Real Madrid signed the then 14-year-old Nakić for the U-15 team ( Cadete B ). With the Madrilenians he went through various youth teams before he got into the A-youth ( Juvenil A ) for the season 2017/18 and at the same time played in the B-team of Real Madrid in the Liga EBA, the fourth division.

Mario Nakić made his debut in Real Madrid's senior squad on May 24, 2018 in the ACB League against CB Gran Canaria . He spent the 2018/19 season again in the B-Team and in the A-Youth, with whom he not only won the Spanish U-18 Championship, but also the EuroLeague Next Generation Tournament held as part of the EuroLeague . He himself was named MVP of the final tournament for his outstanding achievements . He was inducted into Real Madrid's first A-squad for the 2019/20 season.

Mario Nakić was born in Belgrade as the son of Croatian-born former basketball professional Ivo Nakić and his Serbian wife Zorica. His father celebrated numerous successes , especially during his time at Cibona Zagreb and Partizan Belgrade, and was able to win the FIBA European Cup in 1984/85, 1985/86 and 1991/92 , among others . Mario Nakić is eligible to play for both the Serbian and Croatian national teams due to his origins .
