Mario Schneider

Mario Schneider (born May 5, 1970 in Neindorf , Oschersleben ) is a German director, author, film composer and photographer who, among other things, worked as a documentary filmmaker (primarily through the films of the MansFeld trilogy and nudes ) and his extensive film musical oeuvre got known.

Life

Mario Schneider was born in Neindorf in the Magdeburg Börde , he grew up in Helbra in the Mansfeld region. From 1986 to 1989 he completed vocational training as a metallurgist for metallurgical engineering with a high school diploma in the Mansfeld Combine .

From 1992 he first studied musicology , philosophy and art history in Halle (Saale) , followed by composition and piano studies at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig from 1994 to 1997. In 1998, Mario Schneider went to Munich to study there on the one hand to study film composition at the music college, on the other hand to start working in the Red Deer Studio and working with Harold Faltermeyer . During this time, the artist was already taking on major composition commissions, for example for the series The King of St. Pauli and his work for Die Pfefferkörner, which continues to this day .

After graduating as a film composer and returning to Halle, he founded the film production company 42film GmbH and began working as a documentary filmmaker and director. With a series of documentaries, Schneider gained national and international attention. In particular, the films in the MansFeld trilogy (2005, 2008 and 2013), the fictional short film The Second Gift (2009) and Nude (2015) received widespread attention and were shown at many festivals in Germany and abroad. The film Uta about Uta Pilling (who was also involved in act ) is in production.

In 2014 Schneider's first book, the short story collection The Woman of the Beautiful Man , was published as a print and audio book by Mitteldeutscher Verlag. His image-text volume Tourist with photographs and three stories will also be presented there in spring 2020 .

Mario Schneider has a daughter and lives in Halle. He has been a member of the Academy of the Arts Saxony-Anhalt since 2019 .
