Mario Torriani

Mario Torriani (born January 25, 1976 in Bern ) is a Swiss journalist . In Switzerland, he is known as Moderator of the morning program of Radio SRF 3 and also as a former moderator of the knowledge magazine Einstein of Swiss television .

Radio career

Torriani worked from 1989 to 1996 as a freelance presenter and editor at the Franco-German Radio Canal 3 . He then switched to Radio 24 , where he worked as a presenter, news editor and reporter until 1999. During this time he also worked for Tele24 , where he was the moderator and editor of the quiz show Blöff .

From 1999 to September 2018 Torriani was a presenter at the national broadcaster SRF 3 (then DRS 3). Since 2000 he has moderated the morning program on a regular basis, in 2005 he became deputy head of moderation and the layout department. Since January 2011 Torriani has been the moderation manager of SRF 3 and continues to be on the microphone in the morning broadcast.

Since 2002 he has been a lecturer in radio moderation, radio language and trailer production at the MAZ .

In December 2009 he broadcast together with Judith Wernli and Nik Hartmann for the charity campaign Every Rappen Counts from SRF 3, Swiss television and Swiss Solidarity for six days from a glass radio studio on Bern's Bundesplatz. For the 2010 edition of Every Rappen Counts , he reported live from the civil war-torn Eastern Congo / Kivu region several times a day on the topic of children in war , for the 2011 edition of Every Rappen Counts he reported live from Bangladesh during the donation week for the 2012 edition about water projects in Somaliland / Somalia.

TV career

From 2007 to 2011 Torriani could be seen on SRF 1 , for whose knowledge magazine Einstein he moderated and designed articles. In 2011 he announced that he would leave Einstein due to his position as the new head of moderation at Radio SRF 3. In 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, Torriani and Melanie Winiger presented the Swiss Music Awards, which have been broadcast live by SRG on SRF Zwei since 2012 . The award show has been broadcast live from the Zurich Hallenstadion since 2014 .

He has been the new moderator at Schweiz aktuell since late summer 2018 . He moderated the first program on September 14, 2018.

DJ

Torriani has also gained experience as a DJ, including at the DRS 3 hit parade party with DJ Patrick Hässig (former hit parade presenter at DRS 3).

Others

Mario Torriani is married and has two children. His grandfather was the Swiss hockey legend Bibi Torriani , the singer and entertainer Vico Torriani was his great cousin.
