Marisa Vaz Carvalho (born November 19, 1999 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese athlete who competes in hurdles , long jump and heptathlon . She is under contract with the Portuguese sports club Benfica Lisbon .

family

Marisa Vaz Carvalho comes from a family of athletes: the athlete Teresa Vaz Carvalho , who was also born in Lisbon in 1995, is her sister, her mother is the heptathlete and two-time Portuguese darts champion Terezinha Vaz , and her father is the athlete Joaquim Carvalho , u. a. Portuguese champion in the decathlon, 400-meter run and 400-meter hurdles. The athlete José Carvalho , born in 1953, is her uncle. a. Part of the Portuguese Olympic team in Montreal in 1976, where he finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.

She lives in Cascais and studies at the Sports Medicine Faculty of the University of Lisbon , the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana in Cruz Quebrada (as of February 2018).

Athletic career

Marisa Vaz Carvalho competed in her first international championship at the U18 World Championships in 2015 in Cali , where she finished fifth in the hurdles and eighth in the heptathlon with 5666 points. In 2016 she took part in the U18 European Championships, which were held for the first time in Tbilisi , where she won the bronze medal in the long jump and took eighth place in the hurdles in the final. In 2017 she qualified for the U20 European Championships in Grosseto , where she finished sixth over the hurdles in 13.60 seconds. In the long jump and with the Portuguese 4 x 100 meter relay, however, she was eliminated in the preliminary run.

In 2017 Vaz Carvalho became Portuguese pentathlon indoor champion.
