Career

The career of Marius Onofraş began in 1998 at Politehnica Iasi in his hometown in Divizia B . In the 1999/2000 season he became a regular player. In 2000, the first division club FC Brașov signed him . After teething problems in the 2000/01 season , he became a regular player in the 2001/02 season, but did not excel as a goalscorer. In the following season he missed qualifying for the UEFA Cup with his club in fourth place .

After four years, Onofraş left Braşov in 2004 and returned to his hometown club Politehnica Iaşi, which had just been promoted to Divizia A. With his new team he was able to place himself twice in the midfield of the league before moving to league rivals Unirea Urziceni during the winter break of the 2006/07 season. Here, too, he became a regular player straight away. After a fifth place at the end of the following season and the associated qualification for the UEFA Cup , he won his first title with the 2009 championship , where he was able to achieve his best goal percentage with eight goals. In the 2009/10 season , the club entered the group stage of the Champions League and was able to move into the Europa League as third against VfB Stuttgart , Sevilla FC and Glasgow Rangers . In the domestic league he secured his team the runner-up behind CFR Cluj with eight goals , but the club was eliminated in qualifying for the Champions League .

In September 2010 Onofraş moved to the Romanian record champions Steaua Bucharest , but only came to one use in the first half of the 2010/11 season . At the end of the season he won the Romanian Cup . In summer 2011, he left the club again and joined the Azerbaijani club FK Xəzər Lənkəran . In August 2011 he returned to the second division club CSMS Iași in Romania. With his new club, he rose to League 1 at the end of the 2011/12 season . After the immediate relegation at the end of the 2012/13 season , he stayed with the club and took a league deeper promotion in attack. This succeeded immediately in the 2013/14 season . However, his contract was not subsequently extended. In August 2014, second division club CF Brăila signed him. He ended his career there in the summer of 2016.
