Mark Edward Brennan (born February 6, 1947 in Boston ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Wheeling-Charleston .

Life

Mark Edward Brennan earned a bachelor's degree from Brown University and entered the Albany seminary in 1969 . From 1970 he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Washington on May 15, 1976 .

In addition to various tasks in parish pastoral care and an in-depth study in the Dominican Republic in 1985 and 1986, he was responsible for the vocations in the Archdiocese of Washington for ten years from 1988. He was a member of the Council of Priests and the College of Consultors of the Archdiocese. In 2005 he received the honorary title of Papal Honorary Chaplain . From 2003 until his appointment as bishop he was pastor in Gaithersburg .

Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in Baltimore and titular bishop of Rusibisir on December 5, 2016 . The Archbishop of Baltimore, William E. Lori , gave him and the same time appointed Adam John Parker on 19 January of the following year, the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were the Old Archbishop of Baltimore and Cardinal Edwin Frederick O'Brien and the Archbishop of Washington , Cardinal Donald Wuerl .

Brennan was named Bishop of Wheeling-Charleston on July 23, 2019. The inauguration took place on August 22 of the same year.
