Mark Joseph Seitz , also Mark J. Seitz , (born January 10, 1954 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , USA ) is Bishop of El Paso .

Life

Mark Seitz, the oldest of ten siblings, entered the seminary in 1972 and studied philosophy and theology at the University of Dallas . The Bishop of Dallas , Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe , ordained him a priest on May 17, 1980 . From 1985 to 1994 he was Professor of Liturgical Studies and Sacraments Theology at the University of Dallas. In addition, he was, among other things, Vice Rector of the seminary. In 2004 he was appointed monsignor by Pope John Paul II.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on March 11, 2010 Titular Bishop of Cozyla and auxiliary bishop in Dallas . He received his episcopal ordination from the Bishop of Dallas, Kevin Joseph Farrell , on April 27 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Michael Gerard Duca , Bishop of Shreveport , and Charles Victor Grahmann , Bishop Emeritus of Dallas.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of El Paso on May 6, 2013. The inauguration followed on July 9 of the same year.

Mark Seitz is involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . He is Grand Officer of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
