Markus Schlesinger (* 1 January 1984 in Vienna ) is an Austrian fingerstyle - guitarist and composer , and co-founder of the Vienna fingerstyle festivals .

Life

Markus Schlesinger began to play the guitar autodidactically at the age of 16 , which he later refined with teachers and relevant workshops . Over the years he has specialized in fingerstyle picking , which, with the inclusion of percussive effects on the guitar, creates the impression of several players or a band and combines bass , chord and melody playing . His preferred instrument is an acoustic steel-string guitar from Santa Cruz OM / PW, which enables the desired effects by installing additional pickups . Thanks to his early and long-standing commitment , Markus Schlesinger is one of the founders and great promoter of the fingerstyle scene in Austria, alongside Peter Ratzenbeck .

Playing style and concerts

Besides his own compositions , Schlesinger's repertoire also includes blues , jazz , folk and fingerstyle arrangements of well-known songs . His style of playing is characterized by a groovy sound with backbeats . He mainly appears as a solo artist, sometimes by supplementing live loops , which are also used by artists such as Ed Sheeran as an effect at live concerts. His stage program is characterized by a high level of interaction with the audience and, through many anecdotes, also contains cabaret traits. In the course of his concerts he is touring all over Austria, Germany , Great Britain , Hungary , Slovakia and Switzerland and also appears at international festivals :
