Luca Stricagnoli (born October 25, 1991 in Varese , Lombardy  /  Northern Italy ) is an Italian fingerstyle guitarist and composer .

biography

At the age of 10, Luca Stricagnoli starts playing classical guitar . But he stopped playing the guitar for a full three years and turned to the Japanese martial art of judo. Impressed by YouTube videos that he saw on the Candyrat Records channel, he continued to play the guitar in 2007 and developed new and original playing styles, including performances with various instruments, combined with guitars that were sometimes unconventional and self-developed. A special talent is his ability to implement and arrange compositions by bands or orchestras in such a way that he is able to play them alone, often using several instruments at the same time. Luca Stricagnoli sees his role models in Tommy Emmanuel and Andy McKee, whom he describes as his most important musical influences today.

In 2016, Luca Stricagnoli left his homeland Italy and moved to Baden-Württemberg / Germany, where he got engaged to the singer / songwriter Meg Pfeiffer . In 2017 he produced his second album “What if?” In the Protonstudio ( Geislingen / Türkheim ), which will also be released on the record label Candyrat Records (USA).

The Canadian band " Walk off the Earth " explains in their own YouTube channel: "... Checking out this incredible acoustic cover of AC / DC's" Thunderstruck "by Luca Stricagnoli. (This guy brings" tapping " His first major live tour has already taken him around the world, playing shows in Russia, China, USA, Canada, Latvia, Italy, Germany, England, Madagascar / Reunion and Norway, giving workshops and performs at festivals with the best guitarists around the world.

On September 29th, 2017 the second album “What if?” Will be released via “Candyrat Records”. For the release of the album, the videos “Now We Are Free” (from the blockbuster soundtrack “ Gladiator ” by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard ) and “Feel Good Inc.” by the band Gorillaz will appear on social media within the first week has already reached over 14 million views. It is particularly impressive that Luca Stricagnoli plays on these two titles with a unique guitar with three necks, which was made according to his specifications by the Italian luthier Davide Serracini. Under the two necks with 6 and 7 strings there is a "reversed" bass neck with three strings, so that Stricagnoli can play both the melody and scratches, the bass and the percussion (drums) at the same time. In an interview with “ Spiegel Online ”, pictures of the prototype of his invention are published for the first time. La Repubblica , one of the most important Italian daily newspapers, speaks of a “phenomenon” that can play five guitars at the same time.

Luca Stricagnoli starts his World Tour 2017/2018 in October 2017. German singer / songwriter Meg Pfeiffer is a special guest on the entire tour.

On November 17, 2017, Luca Stricagnoli will release a cover version of the title “ Bitter Sweet Symphony ” ( The Verve ) as part of a “social experiment” on the German indie label Astral Music. The shooting for the video took place on October 3rd, 2017 ( German Unity Day ) in the midst of a large gathering of people at the Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart . With over 4 million visitors, the “ Cannstatter Wasen ” in Bad Cannstatt is the second largest folk festival in the world after the Oktoberfest in Munich . The background to the action was to find out whether and how much attention and attention an artist is given in such a situation, especially when the music is played acoustically and without a sound system. On December 9, 2017 he will publish the video on his own YouTube channel and dedicate it to all those who feel “invisible” in this world. (Quote: "This Video is dedicated to all the people who feel invisible in this world")
