Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Open 2005

The Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Open 2005 took place January 5-10 , 2005 in Rye , New York , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2004/05 and belonged to Category 3 Star . It was endowed with $ 30,000. The women's competition was part of the WSA World Tour 2004/05 and belonged to the Silver 15 category . The prize money was $ 24,000.

Last year's winner Karim Darwish reached the final again as the top seeded player and met Jonathon Power, who was second . Power won the final 14:16, 11: 5, 12:10 and 11: 2 and thus the 34th title of his career. Last year's winner Linda Elriani did not compete again in the women's category . In the final, Omneya Abdel Kawy and Vicky Botwright met each other. Kawy won the game 5: 9, 9: 1, 2: 9, 9: 7 and 9: 5.

The field of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were each seeded. Wildcards were not given.
