Martial valine

Martial Henri Valin , Martial Valin for short (born May 14, 1898 in Limoges , † September 19, 1980 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a general of the French air forces and commander of the air forces of France libre 1941-44.

Martial Valin began his military career in the First World War with the Dragoons. In 1917 he received an apprenticeship at the Saint-Cyr Military Academy . In the interwar period he graduated from the cavalry and tank school in Saumur , took part in the Rif War in 1925, but in 1926 chose the modern air force.

As a member of the military mission in Rio de Janeiro , Valin joined France libre , but did not reach England until 1941, where he took over the position of Vice Admiral Muselier , who had started to build the Forces aériennes françaises libres .

From 1946 Valin worked as head of the French military delegation at the UN . From 1947 to 1957 he was General Inspector of the French Air Force as Général d'armée aerienne .
