Martin Ritzmann

Martin Ritzmann (born February 21, 1919 in Oberschönau ; † August 7, 1984 in East Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Between 1949 and 1951 Ritzmann studied singing at the Conservatory in Erfurt . After graduating, he got his first engagement at the Landestheater Altenburg in 1951 , where he made his debut as Chapelou in the opera Le postillon de Lonjumeau .

In 1954 Ritzmann moved to the Metropol Theater in Berlin. He was a member of the ensemble there until 1958, where he sang mostly in operettas . Afterwards he got an engagement at the German State Opera . Over the years he was also able to make several recordings for the record label Eterna .

During his entire life as an artist, Ritzmann made extensive guest tours to and through Hungary, Austria, Czechoslovakia, the Federal Republic, Belgium and Switzerland.

65 years Martin Ritzmann died on August 7, 1984 in East Berlin and found his final resting place in the cemetery Pankow IX of Berlin-French Buchholz .
