Martin Speicher (musician)

Martin Speicher (* 1958 in Püttlingen ) is a German musician (saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, electronics, composition) in the field of new music and improvised music .

Live and act

From 1979, Speicher studied musicology and philosophy in Saarbrücken and Gießen , focusing on jazz and new music, music theory and analysis. From 1987 he worked in groups that are active in the border area between jazz and new music. a. with Baby Sommer , Wladimir Tschekassin , Barry Guy and the London Jazz Composers Orchestra and Cecil Taylor . In 1990 he co-founded the Giessen improviser Pool ; in Kassel he continues this work together with the members of the Ohrenkratzer association . In 1994 he performed at the Moers Festival with the Evan Parker Extended Project. He also wrote music for theater and radio productions; also the cycle earth tones . Since the 1990s he has been working on various projects with Marc Stutz-Boukouya , Ulrike Lentz, Lou Grassi , Ursel Schlicht , Georg Wolf , Mark Sanders , Philip Zoubek and Jörg Fischer . In the field of jazz he was involved in three recording sessions between 1998 and 2006. Speicher lives in Kassel.
