Jean Baptiste Plauché

Jean Baptiste Plauché ( January 28, 1785 - January 2, 1860 ) was an American politician . Between 1850 and 1853 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Louisiana .

Career

Neither Plauché's place of birth nor his place of death have survived. There is also no information about his youth or school education. During the British-American War he was a major in the New Orleans City Militia . In this capacity he also took part in the Battle of New Orleans led by General Andrew Jackson in early 1815 . He later became an officer in the state militia ( Louisiana Legion ), in which he made it up to brigadier general.

It was not until 1850 that he appeared politically. At that time he was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Louisiana alongside Joseph Marshall Walker as an independent. He held this office between 1850 and 1853. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . He died on January 2, 1860. He had seven children with his wife Mathilde St. Amand.
