Martin Winkler (politician)

Martin Winkler (born February 15, 1885 in Amberg ; † May 30, 1959 in Schnaittenbach ) was a Bavarian district administrator and member of the state parliament (CSU).

education and profession

After finishing elementary school, Winkler attended the new grammar school in Regensburg . After high school he studied in Munich and Erlangen law , the study of both laws he concluded with the graduation to the Dr. iur. utr. from. He then took up a degree in economics at the Technical University of Munich . He later settled in Schnaittenbach, where he worked in agriculture and industry.

Political career

From 1919 to 1933 Winkler was chairman of the Amberg district assembly, and also a member of the market town council of Schnaittenbach. After imprisonment and removal from his offices during the Nazi era , he was first appointed district administrator of the then Amberg district in 1945 , and later elected, he held this office until 1958. His successor was Hans Raß .

From December 16, 1946 to November 26, 1950, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the CSU . As a delegate of the Bavarian State Parliament, Winkler was a member of the first Federal Assembly that elected Theodor Heuss as the first German Federal President in 1949 .
