Machine factory Komarek
The machine factory FX Komarek was a mechanical engineering company in the Vienna district of Favoriten , which began production in 1879 and existed until around 1909. The company became famous for the steam railcars equipped with their boilers .
history
The company was founded in 1879, other sources give 1885 as the year of foundation. The owner of the company was Franz Xaver Komarek , born on December 2nd, 1846, died on April 29th, 1906, who was in charge of the business.
The first steam truck was produced around 1895 . Around 1898 the first steam railcar , designed by the engineer Pawlicek , was presented. Around 35 of these vehicles were built up to the First World War , of which the car bodies were supplied by Rohrbacher and Ringhoffer . These vehicles were initially very successful, but were soon overtaken by technical progress.
Until the Second World War , the company premises changed hands twice. In 1945 it was destroyed and rebuilt in a different form. In 1981 production in Favoriten was stopped. Today the property is no longer used.

- kkStB 1.1 , 1 vehicle, year of construction 1906,
- kkStB 1.2 , 2 vehicles, built in 1903,
- kkStB 1 / s.0 , 1 vehicle, built in 1903,
- kkStB 1.3 , 2 vehicles, built in 1909,
- kkStB 1.4 , 1 vehicle, built in 1908.
In addition, there were vehicles for the narrow-gauge railways of the Niederösterreichische Landesbahnen ( Waldviertler Schmalspurbahn and Mariazellerbahn ), a test car for the suburban line of the Vienna Stadtbahn and some other private operators, including Kerkerbachbahn DT3 .
A vehicle of the type kkStB 1.0 has been preserved in the Railway Museum Lužná u Rakovníka , which was refurbished to be operational again until 2006.
