The Maserati Ghibli with the internal designation M157 is the third model from the Italian car manufacturer Maserati to be launched under this name. However, unlike the previous namesake ( Tipo AM115 and Tipo AM336 ), it is not a sports coupé, but a notchback sedan of the upper middle class . The Ghibli was presented at Auto Shanghai in April 2013 and is the first Maserati to be available with a diesel engine . The market launch took place on August 17, 2013.

For the 2017 model year, the Ghibli received a facelift. In addition to a base engine that is 14 kW (20 PS) more powerful and a revised interior, this also includes extended assistance systems and new equipment variants.

For the 2021 model year, Maserati presented the series with a two-liter gasoline engine and mild hybrid . It is supposed to replace the diesel engine. In addition, with the Trofeo model, a new top model is being launched.
