The Maserati GranCabrio is a convertible from the Italian car manufacturer Maserati . It had its world premiere at the International Motor Show in September 2009 in Frankfurt am Main .

Model description

The Maserati GranCabrio is a four-seater convertible with a fabric top based on the GranTurismo . The body and interior were designed by Pininfarina . Production at the Maserati plant in Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena began in early 2010. In May 2010, the first vehicles were delivered. The V8 engine with 440 hp is also used at Ferrari . The ZF automatic transmissions include the following operating modes: Auto Normal Mode, Auto Sport Mode, Auto ICE Mode, Manual Mode. Auto Normal Mode shifts the gears automatically, with a smooth driving style even at low engine speeds for high comfort and with a sportier driving style only at higher engine speeds. Auto Sport Mode changes gears 40% faster than normal mode, shifts down when the accelerator is released before a bend; activates the stability control; tunes the Skyhook undercarriage tougher; opens the exhaust valves from 3000 rpm (in GranTurismo S, S Automatic and GranCabrio). The Auto ICE mode reduces the maximum torque, prevents starting in first gear and only allows gear changes below 3000 rpm. The sequential switching comprises the following operating modes: Manual Normal and Manual Sport, Manual Sport with MC-Shift, Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Auto ICE Modes.

In March 2019, the Milan-based coachbuilder Touring Superleggera presented a convertible version of the Touring Sciàdipersia , which is based on the technology of the GranCabrio and is intended to be reminiscent of the historic Maserati 5000 GT Scià di Persia sports car . The company announced that it would produce a small series of 15 vehicles from this model.

Maserati plans to offer the GrandCabrio with electric drive . Tests have been carried out since January 2020.
