Mathew "Mat" Clark (born October 17, 1990 in Lakewood , Colorado , USA ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who, among other things, completed nine NHL games for the Anaheim Ducks . The Canadian played in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga for HC Bozen and Vienna Capitals .

Career

Clark first played for the Halton Hurricanes in a sub-class Canadian junior league. The defender then went on the ice for the Brampton Capitals in the Ontario Junior Hockey League from 2006 to 2008 . For the 2008/09 season , the Canadian made his debut for the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League , which he had previously selected at the OHL Priority Selection . In his first season he reached the final series of the J. Ross Robertson Cup against the Windsor Spitfires with the team , but lost them in five encounters. Clark played a total of 63 games in the regular season and 21 more in the playoffs, in which he scored a total of 28 points . In the NHL Entry Draft 2009 he was selected in the second round at a total of 37th position by the Anaheim Ducks .

The following season 2009/10 was less successful, as neither Clark nor the Brampton Battalion could confirm the successful previous year. Especially in defensive work, the right-shooter showed deficits. In the same season, the Canadian also ran for the first time for the Manitoba Moose from the American Hockey League , for which he played seven games. He had previously signed a three-year entry - level contract with the Anaheim Ducks in late March 2010 . For the 2010/11 season , Clark was accepted into the roster of the AHL farm team of the Anaheim Ducks, the Syracuse Crunch , and established himself there as a service provider. He also started the following game year in Syracuse, but made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Anaheim Ducks in the last week of the 2011/12 regular season . Overall, Clark was on the ice in two NHL games for the Californians.

After he had spent the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons completely in the AHL with the Norfolk Admirals , he played seven appearances for the Ducks in the NHL at the beginning of the 2014/15 season. In March 2015 it was handed over to the Colorado Avalanche , which in return sent Michael Sgarbossa to Anaheim. There it was also only used in the farm system in the AHL. After the last two playing years at the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, Clark moved to the Italian club HC Bozen in the summer of 2017 .

After a year in Bolzano and the surprising championship title, Clark moved to league competitor Vienna Capitals in July 2018 .

In May 2019, Clark announced his resignation.
