Matthew Michael "Matt" Hasselbeck (* 25. September 1975 in Boulder , Colorado ) is a former American American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He played in his career for the Green Bay Packers , Seattle Seahawks , Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Hasselbeck attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood , Massachusetts . In 1998 he was selected from Boston College by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the NFL Draft . He began his professional career with the Packers, where he played as a substitute for Brett Favre . He made his debut in 1999. He was exchanged on March 2, 2001 for the Seattle Seahawks for a youngster to be elected from the draft. With the Seahawks he reached the Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005 , which was lost at 10:21. After ten seasons with the Seahawks, in which he set several franchise records, he moved to the Tennessee Titans in 2011 . After being released from the Titans in 2013, he signed a new contract with the Indianapolis Colts as a backup to Andrew Luck . At the age of 40 he started for the injured Andrew Luck in 2015 against the Jacksonville Jaguars , Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons and was able to make all games victorious. On February 28, 2016, Hasselbeck was released from the Colts.

On March 9, 2016, he announced that he was retiring and joining ESPN as an expert in the future .

Private

Hasselbeck is the son of the former New England patriot - tight-end Don Hasselbeck . His younger brother, Tim Hasselbeck , was a substitute quarterback for several NFL teams until 2007. His sister-in-law Elisabeth Hasselbeck is co-host of the American talk show The View on the ABC television channel and was a participant in the television series Survivor .

Hasselbeck prefers to be called "Matthew" by the press, but many do not adhere to this in interviews.
