Matthias Amoor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matthias Amoor (also: Amoort, Amoord, Amor, Amour ) († January 27, 1769 ) was a Dutch organ builder in Groningen .

Life

Amoor is only detectable from 1725. He was born in Danzig , but moved to the Netherlands . On October 1, 1726, he married Johanna Gesine Wilkens in Groningen and on January 20, 1727 acquired minor citizenship of the city. He became a member of the grocer's guild and appeared as a wine merchant and grocer. Five children are listed in the baptismal register of the Catholic Church in Groningen. There Amoor ran a kind of Schnitger branch together with the Schnitger student Rudolf Garrels and Johannes Radeker, who also belonged to the Arp Schnitger school .

plant

Amoor is considered a Schnitger student, although this has not been directly proven, or is at least assigned to the Schnitger school. He was mainly active in the Groninger Land, but also carried out repairs and reconstruction work on organs in East Frisia . Only one new building has been documented so far, which can be found today in Berkhuizen .

In the fifth column of the table, there is a capital “P” for an independent pedal, and a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal. The Roman number indicates the number of manuals .
