Matthias Beckmann (born October 5, 1984 in Münster , Westphalia ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn ), composer , arranger and music teacher .

Live and act

Influenced by his father Werner, an amateur saxophonist, Beckmann played in the local trombone choir from the age of 8 and received trumpet lessons a. a. by Anja Bareither, Christiankap and Uli Beckerhoff .

In 2006 he began studying jazz and pop at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, which he completed in 2011 with honors at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede. He received lessons from Jarmo Hoogendijk , Eric Vloeimans , Jan Wessels, Reijer Dorressteijn and Joan Reinders. He also attended master classes with Ruud Breuls , Ack van Rooyen , Jan van Duikeren, Wim Both , Ingolf Burkhardt , Malte Burba and Till Brönner .

Matthias Beckmann worked on various projects with Dr. Ring-Ding , Roger Trash , Mirko Gibson, Markus Wentz and the soul band "Soulfamily" together. Since 2012 he has performed with the Matthias Beckmann Band and since 2015 as the duo Matthias Beckmann - Erick Paniagua (double bass & guitar). Matthias Beckmann plays a B5 trumpet and a BR2 flugelhorn from Van Laar .
