Matthias Hamann (born February 10, 1968 in Waldsassen ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach .
Career
player
Born in Waldsassen, grew up in Konnersreuth and - due to his father's job - came to Munich in 1976, he played in the youth department from 1977 to 1986 and until 1988 in the men's team of the Bayern league club FC Wacker Munich , with whom he joined the Bayern League in 1987 , then third division, was promoted. Then he moved within the Bayern League to the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich , in 1988/89 to the professionals. However, in contrast to his younger brother Dietmar in later years, he did not appear in the Bundesliga , but once in the DFB Cup competition. On September 24, 1988 he was substituted on for Stefan Reuter in the 82nd minute in the 4-0 second round match against TuS Hoisdorf in Lübeck .
For two seasons he was then active for SC Fortuna Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga , before he played for SpVgg Unterhaching in 1990 and became champions of the Bayern League with her in 1992 . From 1992 to 1994 he was in the Oberliga Südwest , the third highest division at the time, under contract with Eintracht Trier . By winning the Southwest Championship in 1994 Hamann said goodbye to 1. FC Kaiserslautern , where he made 28 appearances and one goal in two seasons. From 1996 to 1998 he was under contract with TSV 1860 Munich - also for two years . Trainer
In 2004/05 his coaching career began in the Association League Southwest at TuS Hohenecken . From 2005 until 10 May 2008, he was 99 games long coach of KSV Hessen Kassel , with whom he in 2006 from the league in the Regional climb south and occupied as a newcomer to the 10th place in the table; He was released there in mid-2008.
On June 12, 2009 Hamann returned to LASK as a trainer . After disagreements with the local president, he was released on February 3, 2010.
Hamann has been employed by the United States Soccer Federation since January 2012 , where he is supposed to support Jürgen Klinsmann , the coach of the US national team . He is responsible for player monitoring in Europe.
