Maurice Bellet

Maurice Bellet (born December 19, 1923 in Bois-Colombes ; † April 5, 2018 in Paris ) was a French Roman Catholic priest , philosopher , psychoanalyst and poet .

Life

Maurice Bellet grew up in the environment of the Le Sillon movement ("The Furrow") of Marc Sangnier and studied Catholic theology at the seminary of Paris in Issy-les-Moulineaux and at the university seminar "Des Carmes" in Paris as well as philosophy at the Sorbonne . 1949 Maurice Bellet received in Bourges the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Bourges . He received his doctorate in theology with Claude Geffré and in philosophy with Paul Ricœur and Emmanuel Levinas . He initially taught philosophy at the Small Seminary in Bourges and at the Lycée Saint-Jean-de-Passy until he was appointed to the chair of practical theology at the Institut Catholique de Paris .

The main focus of work and research was the interfaces between philosophy, theology and psychoanalysis. In numerous writings he dealt with economic, political and philosophical topics and psychoanalysis . In his research he was one of the first to build a bridge between psychoanalysis and the gospel. His over fifty writings have been translated into Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, English, Portuguese, Brazilian and Chinese.
