Maurice Auguste Jules Meunier (born October 3, 1925 in Paris , † October 22, 1990 in Saint-Paul-en-Forêt , Département Var ) was a French jazz musician ( clarinet , alto and tenor saxophone ).

Meunier first played with Francis Charpin, then with Michel de Villers and with the pianist Léo Chauliac and with Pierre Spiers, before replacing Noël Chiboust in the Parisian Schubert . In 1947 he recorded with Django Reinhardt (heard on the clarinet in titles such as “Babik”, “Blues Clair” or “What Kind of Friend”) and musicians from the Hot Club de France (including Raymond Cicurel , Eddie Bernard , Jean -Pierre Sasson , Georges Hadjo , Gaston Leonard , André Persiany ). In 1950 he belonged to the Géo Daly All Stars (with Christian Bellest , Michel de Villers, Raymond Fol , Jean Bonal , Jean Bouchety and Roger Paraboschi ); In the same year he recorded with Fol, Bouchety and Parabochi for the Swing label for the first time under his own name (“Morry's Tune” / “Annie Laurie”) and played with them in 1954 at jam sessions at the St. Germain-des-Pres jazz club . In the middle of the decade he worked with Jack Dieval , André Persiany, Roy Haynes , Michel de Villers, Lionel Hampton , Nelson Williams and Henri Crolla . In 1956 he recorded a first album for Barclay. In the 1980s he played again with Michel de Villers; Meunier's last recordings were made in 1986 in a trio with Louis Stewart (guitar) and Michel Gaudry (bass). In the field of jazz he was involved in 32 recording sessions from 1942 to 1986.
