Luigi Trussardi

Luigi Trussardi (born June 6, 1938 in Clichy as Louis Félix Angelo Trussardi , † April 29, 2010 in Prunay-en-Yvelines ) was a French jazz musician ( double bass , also cello ).

Live and act

Trussardi has Italian roots; his father Nicola Trussardi, a classical guitarist and painter, fled the Mussolini regime to France in 1926. As a child he took guitar lessons from his father. Initially played as a guitarist and bassist with local bands; after his bachelor's degree he studied philosophy in 1956. In 1956 he met Stéphane Grappelli at the Paris club St-Germain , then played a. a. in the Bernard Vitet / François Jeanneau quintet and with guest American musicians such as Bud Powell in Club St-Germain (1959–1961), Eric Dolphy , Nathan Davis , Kenny Drew or with Chet Baker in 1963. His membership in the orchestra began in that year by Claude Nougaro , with whom he stayed until 1979. During this period he also worked with Eddy Louiss , Art Simmons , Richie Cole , Philly Joe Jones , René Urtreger , Tommy Flanagan , Milt Jackson , Phil Woods / Jimmy Cleveland ( Europa Jazz , 1961), Jimmy Gourley , Maurice Vander / Charles Bellonzi, Stéphane Grappelli ( Plays George Gershwin & Plays Cole Porter , 1975), Claude Nougaro / Ornette Coleman ( Femmes & famines , 1975). and Sacha Distel ( My Guitar and All That Jazz , 1983).

In 1981 he started working with Marc Hemmeler and Philippe Combelle . The trio has also performed with Gianni Basso and Dusko Goykovich ( Live at Birdland Neuburg ). In the 1990s three albums were created under his own name, on which he played with Michel Graillier , Alain Jean-Marie and Olivier Hutman ; He also recorded several albums with Georges Arvanitas ( Plays George Gershwin ), also with André Persiani ( Starlight Souvenirs ) and in 1997 with Daniel Visani.
