Max Broßelt

Max Broßelt (born April 30, 1909 in Marklissa , Lower Silesia , † September 25, 1990 in Leipzig ) was a German SED functionary and peasant functionary. He was Second Secretary of the Dresden District Management of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and First Secretary of the Leipzig District Board of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid (VdgB).

Life

Broßelt, son of a textile worker and a weaver, visited the elementary and vocational school . From 1923 to 1926 he completed an apprenticeship as a wheelwright in Marklissa. In 1923 he joined the Socialist Workers' Youth , from December 1926 until he left the party in November 1931 he was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). In 1927 he worked first as a carpenter in the furniture factory in Langenöls in Lower Silesia , then from 1927 to 1940 with “seasonal breaks” as a parquet layer in the parquet factory in Döbeln . From 1940 to 1945 he was required to work as a wheelwright in the body shop in Döbeln, only interrupted by his military or war service: from August to November 1939 he was a railway gunner, from February 1942 to April 1943 in the Leipzig motor vehicle park and finally from April to May 1945 soldier of the Wehrmacht

In 1945/46 Broßelt worked as a wheelwright in the fire extinguishing equipment factory in Döbeln. In August 1945 he rejoined the SPD and became a member of the SED after the forced unification of the SPD and KPD in 1946. From June 1946 to the beginning of 1949 he was equal chairman of the Döbeln district committee of the SED. From November to December 1946 he attended the “Fritz Heckert” state party school in Ottendorf . In September 1947 he became a member of the SED regional leadership in Saxony . From the beginning of 1949 to May 1949 he was a political employee in the State Executive Committee of Saxony, and from June to November 1949 he was the first secretary of the Oschatz district leadership of the SED. From December 1949 to July 1952 he was Secretary for Agriculture of the Saxony State Management and from August 1952 to January 1954 Second Secretary of the SED District Management in Dresden. From 1952 to January 1954 he was a member of the Dresden District Assembly .

From January 1954 to February 1955 Broßelt took part in the 5th year-long course at the party college "Karl Marx" . From March 1955 to February 1959 he worked as party organizer of the Central Committee and secretary of the party organization in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the GDR . From March 1959 to June 1962 he was secretary for all-German connections of the VdgB central board. From June 1962 to November 1976 he was the first secretary of the VdgB district board in Leipzig. From October 1963 to 1976 he was also a member of the Leipzig District Assembly. From September 1965 he was a member of the District Agriculture Council and the Council for Agriculture and Food Management of the Leipzig District. After retiring, he worked until 1989 as a member of the Leipzig District Commission for the care of old, deserving party members of the SED.
