Max Fleischmann (born January 16, 1877 in Spaniershammer, district of Lobenstein , † May 12, 1935 in Greifswald ) was a German lawyer, politician and mayor of Greifswald.

Life

Max Fleischmann attended elementary school in Saaldorf , Schleiz district office , and grammar schools in Schleiz and Gera . He studied law and economics at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Berlin and Jena . During his studies he became a member of the Teutonia Freiburg fraternity . From 1911 to 1917 he was councilor and deputy mayor, from 1917 to 1920 mayor and from 1920 to 1935 mayor of Greifswald. He represented the city as a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania and a member of the Prussian manor house .

Act

Fleischmann's merits lie in the elaboration of an urban development concept and a building plan. He supported the university by exchanging land for the construction of clinics (ear, nose and throat clinic, dermatology clinic, urology and radiology clinic). He initiated the construction of rental housing, the construction of the fruit tree and suburbs settlement as well as the construction of the people's stadium and the establishment of the local history museum.

The University of Greifswald made him an honorary senator in 1927. In 1935 a street near the clinics mentioned was named after him.
