Max Schlager

Max Schlager (* 1906 in Linz ; † 1982 ) was an Austrian painter , graphic artist and sculptor .

Life, training and work

Schlager began his artistic studies at the painting schools with Moritz Heymann and Hein König in Munich and continued them with Karl Sterrer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and with Walter Püttner in Munich. It was only through his studies at the art workshops at Giebichenstein Castle in Halle an der Saale that he perfected himself in all the techniques of artistic design. With Erwin Haß he trained as a restorer and with Gustav Weidanz as a sculptorout. After his return to Linz his diverse artistic work began, during which he found the time to train as a bell founder and painter . His painting workshop in Ried im Innkreis was under his leadership in the years 1938 to 1954 with tasks such as church painting , restoration , mosaics and sgraffiti - murals commissioned. Study trips abroad rounded off his artistic skills. From 1947 he was a member of the Innviertel artists' guild .

Exhibitions

  • 1948 joint exhibition for the anniversary of the Innviertel artists' guild
  • In 1996 the Museum Innviertler Volkskundehaus in Ried im Innkreis dedicated a special exhibition to him on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Award

  • In Ried im Innkreis, the Max-Schlager-Weg was named after him.
