Johann Max Winkler (born August 11, 1876 in Hof , † November 15, 1946 in Dresden ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and union official. During the Weimar Republic he was President of the Saxon State Parliament .

Live and act

Winkler, who comes from the Franconian court, first attended an elementary school before he began and completed an apprenticeship as a weaver . After he had joined the union in 1902, he acted from October 1906 to 1909 as Gauleiter of the textile workers' association for the Vogtland , based in Reichenbach . In addition, he became a board member of the Reichenbacher Ortskrankenkasse in Reichenbach in 1905, was a workers' representative in the tariff commission for the Vogtland in 1905/06 and chairman of the supervisory board of the Reichenbach consumer association in 1906/07.

After the plural suffrage for the II. Landtag Chamber was reintroduced in the Kingdom of Saxony in 1909 , he became a member of the Landtag in 1909/10 as a representative of the 43rd rural constituency. He retained this mandate until the November Revolution of 1918. As a result, he was elected for the SPD in the 3rd constituency of the Saxon People's Chamber and the Saxon State Parliament. There he took over the office of secretary in the presidium from 1919 to 1922 and that of the state parliament president from 1922 to 1926 and then left the state parliament.

From 1909 to 1920 Winkler was managing director of the textile workers' association in Dresden , most recently as Gauleiter. In 1921 he took over the post of tariff office manager in Dresden-Briesnitz , which he held until 1926. Until 1944 he was listed as a resident of Briesnitz in the Dresden address books.
