Maxim Gennadjewitsch Maximow ( Russian Макси́м Генна́дьевич Макси́мов ; born September 6, 1979 in Izhevsk , Udmurtia ) is a former Russian biathlete .

Maxim Maximow first took part in a Junior World Championship in Pokljuka in 1999 , where he finished 22nd in the individual. In 2001 he competed for the first time in a race in the Biathlon European Cup in Ridnaun . The highlight of the year was the participation in the European Championship in Haute-Maurienne , where he did not achieve any outstanding results. Nevertheless, he was able to make his debut at the finals of the Biathlon World Cup of the 2000/01 season in Oslo on Holmenkollen shortly afterwards . In the sprint, he finished 40th. After a three-year hiatus, Maximov took part in the 2004 European Championships in Minsk . Since the 2004/05 season he has often competed in the European Cup. He finished his first race in Obertilliach in second place in an individual, and further good placings followed. In 2008 he moved up to the World Cup team for the suspended Iwan Tscheresow . The Russian finished 13th in his first race after a break of almost seven years, a sprint in Ruhpolding , and won World Cup points for the first time. Further point wins followed in the races that followed. At the World Championships in 2008 in Östersund and 2011 in Khanty-Mansiysk , he won bronze and silver medals in each individual race.
