Maxime Macenauer (born January 4, 1989 in Laval , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Thetford Mines Assurancia in the semi-professional Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) since August 2017 .

Career

The center first played in the 2004/05 season for the ice hockey team of the École Ed.-Montpetit Prédateur in a lower-class Canadian junior league in Québec . He was then selected at the LHJMQ Entry Draft 2005 in the first round in a total of 18th position by the Rimouski Océanic , for which the left-handed shooter was on the ice in the 2005/06 season , where he ran up in 41 games of the regular season. The following season a transfer followed within the LHJMQ to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies . After initial difficulties and little game practice due to injury, the Canadian also impressed with 60 points in 67 games in the 2007/08 season . During this time he was selected in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft at position 63 by the Anaheim Ducks . They signed him into a three-year entry-level contract in September 2008 .

He also began the 2008/09 season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies with play in the LHJMQ, before the striker was transferred to the Shawinigan Cataractes during the season . After he was active in the following two seasons exclusively in the minor leagues ECHL and AHL for the Bakersfield Condors and Syracuse Crunch , Macenauer succeeded after the training camp in September 2011, the first jump into the NHL squad of the Anaheim Ducks. On October 7, 2011, he made his debut in the National Hockey League , when the left-handed shooter in the game against the Buffalo Sabers (1: 4) for the Californians was on the ice and contributed a goal assist to the 1: 2 goal by Nate Guenin . In his third NHL appearance on October 14, 2011, the striker scored the 1-0 winner in the home game against the San Jose Sharks .

On February 13, 2012, the Californians transferred him to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Riley Holzapfel , where he was only used by their farm team, the St. John's IceCaps . As a result, he joined the Hamilton Bulldogs from the AHL before the 2013/14 season , for which he was active two seasons. In October 2015 he finally moved to EHC Biel for one season .

In September 2016 he received a two-month contract with SC Bern . At the beginning of January 2017 he switched to NLA competitor SCL Tigers .

Macenauer acts in the preferred role as a defensive center. He is considered a hardworking player with good defensive skills, who also convinces with his checking skills. Furthermore, it is described as a center with less pronounced scorer qualities, whose skating skills are criticized.

International

For the selection Canada Québec Macenauer was at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2006 on the ice. In six encounters he contributed one goal and two assists to the team's gold medal win.
