Maximilian von Mauschwitz

Maximilian von Mauschwitz (* 1716 or 1717 in Jauer , Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer ; † March 14, 1781 in Belgard ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the cuirassier regiment No. 5 .

Life

origin

Mauschwitz came from a noble Silesian family . His parents were Maximilian von Mauschwitz , who worked in the Netherlands , and Susanne Sophie, née von Schachmann.

Career

Mauschwitz began his officer career in 1732 as a cadet in Berlin . He was transferred to Dragoon Regiment No. 5 in 1733 . In 1735 he became a Junker in the "von Solmsdorf" (No. 2) dragoon regiment , advanced to ensign in 1738 and, when he was promoted to secondary lieutenant in 1741, he was transferred to the "von Platen" (No. 1) dragoon regiment (No. 1), then also in the same year to the "von Platen "(No. 9) . In the Second Silesian War he fought in the Battle of Kesselsdorf . He rose to prime lieutenant in 1748 and was assigned to the Gens d'armes regiment (No. 10) during the autumn exercises . During the Seven Years' War he fought in Groß-Jägersdorf , then came with the regiment to the western theater of war and fought in front of Crefeld , Bergen and Minden , as well as in the battle near Soest. Mauschwitz became a staff captain in 1756 , received his own company in 1758 and became captain and squadron chief in 1759 . In 1760 he was promoted to major and took part in the battle of Zorndorf . He was promoted in 1772 to Lieutenant Colonel and 1773 to Colonel and eventually became commander of the regiment in 1775. He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession and in 1780 took over the cuirassier regiment "Lolhöffel von Löwensprung" No. 5 and on June 4, 1780 he was promoted to major general.

family

Mauschwitz was married to Helene Katharina Susanne Freiin von Geißler († 1786). The marriage had four daughters and four sons.
