Maxwell Durtschi

Maxwell Stuart "Max" Durtschi (born May 26, 1991 in Ketchum ) is an American road cyclist , biathlete and cross-country skier .

Maxwell Durtschi won the 2009 American road race championship in the junior class in Bend . In 2011 he drove for the Chipotle Development Team , a farm team of the US UCI ProTeam Garmin-Cervélo . In the 2013 season he competed for the Leopard-Trek Continental Team until August .

Durtschi has some successes in biathlon. In the 2015/16 season he started the Biathlon World Cup in Canmore for the first time and finished 84th in the sprint with five shooting errors. Especially since the 2018/19 season he has been used more and more and improved his best performance to a 62nd place in a sprint race in Antholz , which means that he missed the pursuit by just two places. The first international championships were the 2017 European Biathlon Championships in Duszniki-Zdrój , where Durtschi was 62nd in the individual and 14th in the mixed relay. A year later he was 56th of the individual in Ridnaun . In 2019 , better results followed in Minsk with 29th place in the sprint and 44th in the pursuit. Her career highlight so far was her participation in the 2019 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund . In Sweden, Durtschi reached 93rd place in the sprint, with Leif Nordgren , Jake Brown and Alex Howe in the US relay he was 19th.

Before Durtschi switched to biathlon in the mid-2010s, he was active in cross-country skiing in winter. Between 2008 and 2010 he only took part in FIS races , the US Super Tour and the Nor-Am Cup cross-country skiing , but without achieving any results worth mentioning.
