Former town hall (Mairie) of Mazières

Mazières is a village and a former French community with 102 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the Arrondissement Confolens and the canton Charente-Bonnieure (until 2015 Saint-Claud ). The inhabitants are called Mazièrois .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former communes of Roumazières-Loubert , Genouillac , Mazières , La Péruse and Suris were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Terres-de-Haute-Charente and have the status of a commune déléguée in the new commune . The administrative headquarters are located in Roumazières-Loubert.

Mazières is located about 38 kilometers northeast of Angoulême . Mazières is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Genouillac in the north and east, Cherves-Châtelars in the south and Suaux in the west and north-west.
