Suris is a village and a former French commune of 250 people (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the Arrondissement of Confolens and the canton of Charente-Vienne (until 2015 Chabanais ). The inhabitants are called Surisiens .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former communes of Roumazières-Loubert , Genouillac , Mazières , La Péruse and Suris were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Terres-de-Haute-Charente and have the status of a commune déléguée in the new commune . The administrative headquarters are located in Roumazières-Loubert.
geography
Suris is about 44 kilometers northeast of Angoulême on the Charente and is surrounded by the suburbs La Péruse in the north, Exideuil-sur-Vienne in the northeast, Saint-Quentin-sur-Charente in the east and southeast, Lésignac-Durand in the south, Genouillac in the West and Saint-Maurice-des-Lions to the west and northwest.
