The Med Star was a RoPax ship that was last used between Mersin and Tripoli .

history

The ship was built by the Hellenic General Enterprise shipyard in Perama and delivered in March 1976. Initially, Nomicos Lines deployed the ship between the Sporades and between Piraeus , Paras, Naxos , and Santorini , and between Volos , Skiathos , Skopelos and Alonnisos . In 1999 the ship was finally sold to Minoan Flying Dolphins and from April 2004 chartered to Southern Ferries . It served the Gibraltar - Tangier route . In October 2000, Halkidon Shipping bought the ship and renamed it Panagia Tinou . From November 2002 Ventouris Sea Lines started using the ship from Syros .

In February 2007 NEL Lines bought the ship. In March 2009 the ship was sold to Trabzon Shipping Inc. and renamed Trabzon . in June 2013, Med Star Shipping Co SA bought the ship and renamed it Med Star .

Incidents

On July 7, 2003, a fire broke out on board, which the ship's crew was able to extinguish quickly.

On August 9, 2016, a fire broke out on board due to an electrical fault in the port of Tripoli. The ship was then scrapped in Aliaga from March 2017.
