Medardo Luis Luzardo Romero

Medardo Luis Luzardo Romero (born April 17, 1935 in Puertos de Altagracia ; † November 27, 2018 in Los Puertos de Altagracia , Zulia ) was a Venezuelan clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ciudad Bolívar .

Life

Medardo Luis Luzardo Romero was ordained a priest on January 6, 1960 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 16, 1972 as the first bishop of the diocese of San Carlos de Venezuela established on the same date . He received his episcopal consecration on July 25th of the same year by the Archbishop of Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela , Cardinal José Humberto Quintero Parra ; Co- consecrators were Domingo Roa Pérez , Archbishop of Maracaibo , and Mariano José Parra León , Bishop of Cumaná .

On August 20, 1979 he was appointed the first bishop of the diocese of Ciudad Guayana , established on the same date . Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Ciudad Bolívar on May 26, 1986. On August 27, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
