Medea de Novara , b. Hermine Kindle Futscher , (born April 18, 1905 in Triesen , † November 21, 2001 in Cuernavaca ) was a Mexican - Liechtenstein film and silent film actress .

Life

Hermine was born on April 18, 1905 in Triesen, Liechtenstein. Her parents were Florian Kindle and Amalie Futscher. One of her eight siblings was the Liechtenstein Landtag member of the Fatherland Union (VU) and sports functionary Florian Kindle (1907-1994).

In 1925 Hermione emigrated to Hollywood in order to gain a foothold as an actress. There she met the Mexican director , screenwriter , film producer and actor Miguel Contreras Torres (1899-1981), whom she married on August 13, 1936 in Mexico. In 1937 they settled in Mexico City .

She became world-famous with the role of Empress Carlota of Mexico in the Kaiser Maximilian trilogy: Juárez y Maximiliano (1933), La paloma (1937) and La Emperatriz loca (1939). However, she celebrated her greatest success with the film María Magdalena, pecadora de Magdala , on whose screenplay she co-wrote and which was published in 1945. In it she played the main role María Magdalena . She went down in Mexican film history as La Dama de la Pantalla ( the lady of the screen ).

In 1951, Miguel bought the high medieval Gutenberg Castle in Balzers, Liechtenstein for CHF 200,000 in order to make the actress' dreams come true. Hermione then traveled back and forth between Mexico and Liechtenstein and spent a long time at her castle. Under the government of Hans Brunhart (* 1945), the Principality of Liechtenstein bought the castle and the associated area from her in 1979 for CHF 3.8 million, but continued to grant her the right to live there. In the course of time, however, she decided not to do so because, in her opinion, Liechtenstein had not complied with the contractual conditions. She then returned to her home town of Triesen.

After the death of her husband in 1981, she took care of the affairs of her family's film company. On October 31, 1983, she married the much younger Boris Reynolds García (* 1944). Their marriages were childless.

Hermione died on November 21, 2001 in the Mexican city of Cuernavaca. In 1959 she became a member of the Historical Association for the Principality of Liechtenstein .
