Mediamatiker referred to Switzerland a basic vocational training in the field of information technology . It has been possible to train to become a mediamatist in Switzerland since 1997. It started with an Italian-speaking class in Ticino. In 1998 the first classes were opened in German-speaking Switzerland ( Biel and Aarau ).

The provisional regulations were dated March 24, 1998. The first ordinary regulations were dated April 16, 2003 and came into force on June 1, 2003. The current regulation dates from November 11, 2010 and changed u. a. the final designation from trained mediamatics to mediamatics EFZ .
