Medlitz is a municipality part of the market Rattelsdorf in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg . In the village of 225 inhabitants.
location
Medlitz is on federal highway 4 , four kilometers north of Rattelsdorf. The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .
history
In 1057 Medlitz was named "Metilici" together with the local court of the diocese of Würzburg . The village was probably founded by Slavs in a side valley of the Itz . The Kreuzbach, also called Kreuzerbach, divided the place in the Middle Ages into a Bamberg ( belonging to the Michelsberg monastery ) and a Würzburg (belonging to the diocese) part.
On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Medlitz, until then in the district of Staffelstein , with the municipality parts Speiersberg and Hilkersdorf was incorporated into the market Rattelsdorf .

Worth seeing
- Kuratiekirche, which was built in 1914 according to plans by Otto Schulz (1877–1960) in neo-baroque style with a roof turret from 1739. In the church there is an image of Our Lady, which gave rise to pilgrimages from the 18th century.
